Vital Everton Summer Interview: Vanilla Ice
1. Who are ya?? What is your username on Vital Everton?
I'm Andy but you can call me Vanilla Ice!
2. How did you become an Everton fan?
I played football from when I was a kid and didn't really support anyone (probably favoured United cause of my Dad). My team went on a trip to Liverpool and went to Goodison to see The Toffees play Coventry... Love at first sight!
3. What is your all time best moment as an Everton fan?
Anytime they score is unreal but when Gosling scored the winner against the Liverpool in the FA Cup takes the award.
Watched it in a pub in Dublin with a load of Kopites so couldn't have been better!
4. Who is your all time favourite Everton player?
Niclas Alexandersson - don't ask me why, I've always loved him... and I always wanted Van Der Meyde to make it! God I sure do pick 'em.
5. The season just gone, good bad or ugly? What did you think of it?
Obviously the first half was beyond ugly but the second half was brilliant.
2 loses in 24 says it all. A few too many draws but with all the injuries it could have been worse!
6. Best and worst moment of last season?
Being 3-0 down at Hull after half an hour was pretty bad but I suppose all loses are just as bad the others. And the best... Tim Cahill equalising against Spurs having being 2-0 down, and Howard then saving Defoe's injury time peno!
Not as glamorous as the Chelsea or United wins but it just summed up our never die attitude... and introduced us to Seamus Coleman.
7. What is needed to improve for next season?
We need to go out and beat the weaker teams. If we can beat United and Chelsea then we have to beat Stoke and Wolves!
8. What do you think of the signings so far?
When I heard Beckford might be coming back in January I was delighted. Saw him against United and Spurs and thought he looked a real threat, even against two top class defences.
Can't imagine we'll see much of Silva or Mucha this season but from what I've seen of Gueye in pre-season he looks like one for the future...and maybe even for the now!
9. Expectations for next season, back in Europe?
With the size and strength of the squad I'd expect Europe, maybe even Champions League. A good cup run is a must.
If we don't lose any key players and have a good start then the sky is the limit.
10. If you had to choose, Champions League qualification or FA Cup win?
It's been too long since we won some silverware so it's the FA Cup for me.
That would give us a good springboard towards CL qualification in a few years.
Europa League and winning the FA Cup would make for a damn good season.
Thanks to Andy for this!
