'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The FA : Kop-outs

The FA have acted on Clattenburgs handling of the Mersey Side derby, by giving him a 'break'. In hardly a damning statement from the FA, it has been revealed that Mark Clattenburg will be getting a week off for his efforts in the derby. Not even being classed as dropped for a week, this seems incredibly harsh on poor old Rob Styles who's name was dragged through the mud after a mistake against the kopites. Clattenburg however has not even been criticised by the FA in any way shape or form, this is a disappointing 'punishment'.

I would be happy if he was dropped for a week, and the FA came out and said he did a bad job, and a public apology from Clattenburg. We will however get none of the above, and Mark has got a nice little rest.

Add all this onto what could be his return, refereeing the fixture between Luton Town and EVERTON in the Carling cup, where he was scheduled to ref. This however must surely be changed as he would surely be tempted to over compensate for his mistakes against us, by decisions for us, and once again we would have a situation where it isn't a level playing field!

An absolute disgrace another case of the men in suits haven't a clue what they are doing.

"I would be happy if he was dropped for a week, and the FA came out and said he did a bad job, and a public apology from Clattenburg. We will however get none of the above" He is dropped for a week, so you got one of the above. And by dropping Clattenburg, the FA are admitting he did a bad job.

Wigan got their ref changed for the game vs us a month ago, on less grounds than this. Plus taking the 'noble stance' by stating that you think Clattenberg will 'over-compensate' Everton in that cup game, if he refs it, clouds the point somewhat.

I think he would naoise, i mean how could he not? In the back of his mind the whole game he wouldn't want to do us over again so soon after, surely to keep his job! they haven't said he was dropped though john thats the point im trying to make, they haven't condemed any of his decisions.

The Blues were robbed on Saturday and this terrible ref should never be allowed to darken the Premiership again. He's sub-standard and has shown himself up to be easily influenced.

Why is he getting a week off then Mike?
JohnDoe
Ok it probably is their punishment, but they have not come out and said he has been dropped, simply said he won't be reffing this weekend! it's hardly a daming statement is it? You probably think i'm being petty, but it just frustrates that they are brushing it under the carpet mate.
EvertonMike
i can understand what mike is saying the ref should have been made an example of to show all the other ref's what will happen if they have such a poor game but to be honiest we have had some really, really bad ref's decisions so far this season and it is only going to get worse if they dont put their foot down

Mike, the FA didn't come out and say that Clattenburg is dropped, but they did drop him. Actions speak louder than words.
JohnDoe
I can see why you think that, it just annoys me i don't know why, just seems to me like they think now everton will be happy as he won't ref this weekend, and they can just go on how they were after that. He should be treated at least the same as styles was.
EvertonMike
I think its fair to say we are all looking for some ripples in the pond, clattenburg being 'made an example of' would have started this and maybe motivated other referees to try and raise their standards. Mike is right in a sense, it looks as if it has been brushed under the rug. If more was made of it then perhaps the game would have benefitted more, however it looks as if we will all go on as if nothing happened.

He gave two rightfull penaltys IMO and failed to give another one. He should be dropped.

As you will see by futher comments today john, he isn't being dropped, he wasn't scheduled to ref this weekend anyway as they have given him a UEFA game! They have doen F*ck all about it AGAIN!
EvertonMike
After the Finnan Malouda 'penalty' all we reds were feeling pretty much the same towards Syles as you are now towards Clattenburg, calling for his head, questioning the FA's resolve on the matter, but one things for sure, had he been reffing another LFC game so soon afterwards, he would have got monumental stick from the reds fans, and you really think that someone in that position is gonna be inclined to be more generous to the team who's fans are currently spitting forth venom and bile towards you? If that were to happen (ie with Clattenburg in your cup tie) and say you had a decent penalty shout, he's in a no-win situation as if he gives it (regardless of how valid it is) then he's cowing to pressure, and if he doesn't (again regardless of validity) he's being spiteful. At least that's the way fans of the losing team will see it.

Luton v Everton - well that's Luton next up for screaming - "HE'S *****E"
