'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Last Night

People will complain, and they have every right to. But those who are more clued up will know how difficult a game it was.

There was no shame whatsoever in losing to them in my opinion. We didn't play well, thats a given, but they were excellent, great passing, great movement. How many teams in the Premier League will give us that hard a game this season? I can't think of many, certainly only one or two who play with such verve and tenacity.

We were second best in this game for a majority of it, the very fact we came out as winners makes the win all the sweeter. People can blame Moyes all they like, the end of the day our manager does the best with what he has, and we have not got an overly talented side.

We have a squad of players who fight for eachother, some of whom have the occasional touch of brilliance about them. We fought yesterday and won, after some nipping and tucking in the midfield, we played to our strengths by becoming solid and hard to break down. The team in the first half was a million miles from what we have become accustomed to over the past few years.

With regards to the group stages, there will be more trials ahead. I believe home form will be the key. If we make Goodison a fortress we stand a very good chance of going into the knockouts.

Enjoy it Blues! :D

You'd hope we would get through the groups now as we are there, top 3 go through and we will be in pot 3

Let's hope we get a good draw and get the best blance of 2 homes and 2 aways possible. What would you guys prefer - 2 easier games at home or away ?

i think home games have to be a banker, its going to be pivotal as i keep saying, if we can make goodison a fortress then we'd stand a very good chance!
