Everton U-15s win Nike Cup

Everton have won at Warwick University in the national finals of the Nike Premier Cup, with a John Nolan goal with just 10 minutes remaining the deciding factor in a cagey final against previous group stage conquerors, Arsenal.

espite the previous loss to Arsenal in the group stage, Everton recovered to remain undefeated throughout the rest of the tournament with a goaless draw against Blackburn, a 1-1 deadlock with Newcastle, and a one nil win against West Ham.

The Nike Cup is respected around the World for being the most prestigious of Under 15 tournaments. In England the national 'heats' are considered the junior FA Cup.

The Everton boys experienced a close shave in the quarter final with a penalty win over Middlesborough but to be fair they did score all 5 penalties, then they sore off Reading in the semi finals with a 2-1 win.

Everton now join Roma on the list of teams already qualified for the Global Nike Cup finals in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia in May.

Suppose that may be a problem, but to be fair to the board we've been more shy of recent years to sell our best young players.
