World Cup Doubt For Everton Star?

Everton have confirmed that Gylfi Sigurdsson is set for a trip to a specialist having picked up a knee injury in the weekend's victory over Brighton.

The 28 year old Icelandic international will meet with a specialist later this evening according to a brief statement from the clubs' Official Site but the initial fear is that at best he could be sidelined for 'several weeks'.

However a definitive timeframe isn't yet known so it could bring into doubt any World Cup action over the summer, but more importantly with growing importance for Everton a potential early end of season especially with plenty of talk and promises about ending 2017/18 on a high.

The statement read.

'Gylfi Sigurdsson will see a specialist this evening to determine a timeframe for recovery from the knee injury he sustained in Saturday`s Premier League win over Brighton at Goodison. It is anticipated that the 28-year-old Icelandic international could be sidelined for several weeks but it will only be after consulting with the specialist that a definitive timeframe will be known.'

Fans will take hope that having received treatment in the first half, but with him completing the 90 minutes it won't be too severe.
