Everton Midfielder Boosted By Allardyce's Approach

Young Everton midfielder Tom Davies has said he thinks he's reaping the rewards of Sam Alladyce's approach at the club and he continues to work hard to improve even further.

The 19 year old Academy graduate has quickly risen though the ranks, gaining his breakthrough in the 2015/16 season where he made two Premier League appearances. 2016/17 saw him step up considerably playing his part in 25 games with a return of two goals, and he's now an established first team member for 2017/18 having already made 32 appearances so far this season.

Speaking to the Official Site this week the England Under 21 international said he felt that his game was really coming along under Allardyce, who had said of his substitute appearance against Arsenal that Davies had 'got us in the game, got us going forward and got the rest of the lads playing'.

'It`s great to have his support. It has been a tough season for me so far but I have been getting back into the team and getting some games under my belt. The aim for me now is to try to cement myself in the team. We have got a lot of games still go and I am just looking to try and keep my place.'

With praise and the work done on the training pitch, Davies felt that his approach to the game was appreciated by Allardyce and did fit well with how he wants Everton to perform in the future.

'My attributes seem to fit into what the manager wants from his midfield. With the way he wants us to play, with us pressing, it fits my game. I do think I bring more to the table but I am looking to improve every day in training. I would like to add more goals to my game, as well as creating more chances. That`s what I`m working hard to do.'

It's still up and down from the youngster but that's to be expected at his age as consistency comes from experience, but he's already shown fans what he's capable of when at his best, so when performances do show more consistency - especially with how Allardyce seems to favour midfield playing in general - Davies could be a huge asset for us moving forward.
