Calvert-Lewin Targets More Goals

Calvert-Lewin Targets More Goals

Having played his part in both goals in the victory over Huddersfield Town, Everton's Dominic Calvert-Lewin is looking to contribute more going forward.

The 20 year old retained his place in the starting line for new manager Sam Allardyce's first game in charge, and having laid on the assist with a cheeky back heel for Gylfi Sigurdsson to slot home, he then sealed a second straight victory with his sixth goal of the campaign and clearly his aim for the season is to get into double figures.

Speaking to the Official Site previously about his desire to add more goals to his game, his update following the weekend's action spoke for itself.

Asked on whether the goal or the assist gave him the most pleasure.

'Scoring the goal - there`s no better feeling. I`m over the moon to score. I knew with the new manager coming in it`s a clean slate for everyone so I was perhaps auditioning myself and thankfully I`ve got the assist and scored the goal. I`ve got a target in my head that I`d like to keep to myself but I`m just happy to keep scoring the goals. I`m getting the chances and perhaps I could have had another one but I`m glad to get on the scoresheet and it`s one more towards my target.'

With victory over David Wagner's side lifting us into the top half of the Premier League table, Calvert-Lewin knew it was a good boost ahead of the Europa League tie and the Merseyside with Liverpool - especially as we now know we'll face them in the third round of the FA Cup as well.

'A week is a long time in football. We wanted to build on our win on Wednesday and, thankfully, we`ve done that. It`s only been a couple of days since Allardyce arrived but the first impressions have been good. All the lads were looking forward to the game and it`s a good time for him to come in off the back of the 4-0 win over West Ham. I think it showed that we were all looking forward to it.'

He went on to say.

'We were slightly frustrated at times in the first half but we knew we were very much in the game, especially being at home. Thankfully we got the early goal in the second half and we saw out the result. We`re very much looking forward to the derby now. It`s a big game and we knew that the Huddersfield game was important for us to get the result to give us the best kind of momentum going into next week. We`re all ready for it.'
