Instant Reactions - Crystal Palace v Everton (18/11/17)

Following yesterday's clash between Crystal Palace and Everton, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Crystal Palace hosted Everton at Selhurst Park for a 3pm kick off on Saturday November 18, with both sides playing out a two all draw on the day.

Palace took the lead through James McArthur in the first minute, but a Leighton Baines penalty had the visitors level five minutes later. Wilfried Zaha then gave Palace the lead for the second time but Oumar Niasse had Everton level for a second time in first half stoppage time.

Teams:

Crystal Palace:

Speroni, Ward, Dann, Sakho, Schlupp, Loftus-Cheek, Cabaye (Puncheon 85), Milivojevic, McArthur (Benteke 75), Townsend, Zaha.

Substitutes:

Tomkins, Hennessey, Souare, Fosu-Mensah, Sako.

Everton:

Pickford, Kenny, Jagielka, Keane, Baines, Schneiderlin (Calvert-Lewin 45), Gueye, Lennon (Ramirez 76), Sigurdsson, Lookman (Davies 45), Niasse.

Substitutes:

Williams, Rooney, Martina, Robles.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Anthony Taylor blew the final whistle, Palace manager Roy Hodgson explained.

'We really did boss the game, playing some excellent football. We have dropped two more points. Mistakes happen, don't they? Being wise after the event doesn't serve any purpose at all. I thought Loftus-Cheek was very good today, as was the whole midfield. Our midfield controlled the game totally, and we used the ball very well. I can't ask for more than I got from the players today, but I must admit to being bitterly disappointed. It is not enough just to give players credit for a performance - as a manager I was to see some points on the board.'

Everton caretaker manager David Unsworth in his comparitive interview explained.

'That was a well-fought point. I am delighted with a point. We conceded two poor goals - our own downfall. To concede so early is always a blow but we came back strongly and this team has shown they have fight and desire.'
