Koeman 'Pretty Calm' And Focused

As a football manager Ronald Koeman knows he puts himself in a position to be judged and opinions, which aren't always positive, will be shared.

Everton are certainly performing below expected standards, both in terms of performance and results, which Koeman is aware but the boss isn't hiding from criticism coming his way.

He told Dutch paper De Telegraaf, via Sky Sports: 'I accept that everyone is entitled to his opinion and as a coach I don't run away from criticism. We know within Everton that we currently play under our level and that the results should be better.'

Koeman came to Goodison Park knowing ambitions were high, growing higher with investment shown. However, he's remaining 'pretty calm' at this moment.

'The moment I made the move from Southampton to a club with such ambitions, I knew I could be in a difficult situation if investments were not accompanied by results. I'm pretty calm with it.'

We went into the international break with a third defeat in four Premier League games, leaving us 16th in the league having also struggled in the early stages of the Europa League too.

Yes, things aren't going well at the moment for the Blues or Koeman, but he's still the 'same coach' that had previously done well and remains confident the staff and players will turn things around once the domestic season resumes at the weekend.

'I do everything with the rest of the staff and we work even harder to get those results fast. I have also said in England that I'm exactly the same coach as in the past few years when it went well. I make sure that the feeling with the group stays good and I follow the line we used,' concluded Koeman.

The words are positive but we live in a results based world so these are needed - and fast - or he'll know as well as anyone what the outcome will most likely be, despite the backing and support given.
