Wayne Rooney wasn't hit in the pocket as such by the courts following his drink-driving conviction earlier this week but Everton have fined the forward.

He was handed his two year driving ban at Stockport Magistrates' Court on Monday following his arrest on 1st September having been found to be already three times over the legal limit - he was also put on a 12 month community order that required he carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Rooney had been ordered to pay £170 costs with the BBC reporting the former England captain has now been fined two weeks wages by the Blues, which amount to a fee of around £300,000.

This whole amount - understood to be in agreement between Rooney and the club - is going towards local charities via the highly successful Everton in the Community (EitC) scheme, which has been hailed since its inception in 1988.
