Rooney Impact Backed

Rooney Impact Backed

If anyone knows what it takes to have an impact on the Premier League then Thierry Henry does.

However, the Frenchman is also aware of Wayne Rooney's ability and all he's achieved during an illustrious spell at Old Trafford with Manchester United.

Not only has former Arsenal forward Henry backed Rooney to have an impact now he's 'back home' on Merseyside at Everton he's hopeful of a 'Hollywood ending' for the former England captain.

Yes, Rooney had some moments, such as his ill-timed decision to kiss the badge on his Man United shirt when facing Everton, but few can deny he's always been an Blues fan, obviously always will be and the return to Goodison Park was a logical one.

'First and foremost I think it was an obvious move for Wayne. The man is an Everton supporter and he's gone back home. People were asking whether it was the right choice, but you can't fault someone for wanting to go back home. No-one could question his desire when he wore the Manchester United shirt, but he's an Everton fan,' Henry was quoted by the Official Website.

Adding: 'What Everton are getting is a guy who knows exactly what it takes to win in this league. He's an Everton fan who will give everything to make an impact.'

Henry, winner of the Premier League twice during his Arsenal career, which didn't quite give him the Hollywood ending he would have wanted when returning to the Gunners on loan late in his playing days, would 'love' Rooney to do well at Everton.

The former French international is certainly hoping Rooney can get his happily ever after with the Blues and help the Toffees to silverware.

Henry finished: 'I would love him to do well. You hope that it's going to be a great Hollywood ending and he can help Everton win something.'
