Exit Confirmed - Lukaku Joins Manchester United

Exit Confirmed - Lukaku Joins Manchester United

Romelu Lukaku's exit has been confirmed with the Belgium international completing his transfer from Everton to Manchester United.

An undisclosed fee has seen him head to Old Trafford on a five year deal that comes with United having the option to add a sixth - the fee is commonly thought to be £75m with an extra £15m in potential add-ons to follow.

The statement on the Official Website read: 'Everton Football Club can confirm that a deal has been agreed with Manchester United for the transfer of striker Romelu Lukaku.

'The Belgian international became Everton's then Club record signing in July 2014 when he arrived from Chelsea after enjoying a successful season-long loan at Goodison Park, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

'Including his loan campaign in 2013/14, the 24-year-old scored 87 goals in 166 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, netting 32 goals in 44 appearances for club and country last season.'

Much of the summer saw Lukaku linked with Chelsea and he said he knew where he'd be playing next season. We'll never actually know if Lukaku expected this to see him return to Stamford Bridge or was always destined for Man United? If it was down to his agent you suspect it would have been United all along.

Before his exit was confirmed Lukaku - who had already given an interview - took to social media to post a goodbye message when he thanked the club, fans and all involved for their support and wished Everton well.

A nice show of respect there, if you wanted to be ultra critical you could say he might have waited until the deal was announced, but that really is being picky. What isn't would be to say it's a shame Lukaku wasn't always as respectful as he was above.

Good luck to him, thanks for the goals and a goalscorer of his ability will always be missed. However, Ronald Koeman's moulding the team as he wants it and the signs are looking good for a positive season ahead.

Everton needed Lukaku but Lukaku isn't irreplaceable, no player is.
