Bolasie - Everything's Going Good

Having undergone two operations on his knee since sustaining a cruciate ligament injury, Yannick Bolasie is optimistic about his recovery and positive about his chances of returning for the early stages of next season.

Bolasie, who sustained his injury against Manchester United in December, hadn't been expected, in some quarters, back this side of Christmas. However the former Crystal Palace winger is upbeat about his chances.

The £30m Goodison Park arrival last summer is certainly positive on how his recovery is going.

He told the Official Website: 'Everything's going good. I couldn't ask for the knee to be in a better position right now. I'm just taking it steady and going with the flow. I've been working hard with the physios trying to cut down on the time (I'm out). That's the aim.'

A timescale wasn't put on his recovery but he's hopeful of starting some light jogging in the next couple of weeks.

Bolasie said: 'It's too early to say when I'll be back playing. I think when I start running then I'll have a better picture of where I'm at. I'm hoping to start light jogging in two weeks and then I'll know what we are looking at. It depends how everything reacts and if I feel comfortable.'

Everton will finish the Premier League season in seventh and Bolasie, who started impressively before his season-ending injury, is already targeting improvement next season, whatever involvement he plays during 2017-18 - stepping into the top-six as a minimum.

Adding: 'That's always the aim (to improve on the previous season). The club have brought in a great manager to do that and we've got some great players here already. Obviously we are going to look to add to that over the summer and our first aim next season has to be to break into the top six next season and then see where we can go from there.'
