Dunne Advises £50-Rated Barkley Leave Everton

Richard Dunne has suggested it might be better for all concerned if Ross Barkley were to leave Everton at the end of the season.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman has continually said Barkley wouldn't be kept if he doesn't agree a new contract, on offer to him, at Goodison Park.

Dunne feels a few players are slipping into 'their comfort zone' and the squad needed freshening up.

He told talkSPORT: 'There are a few players at Everton that have gone into their comfort zone and maybe a change would be the best for both sides.'

Barkley could be one of them with the England midfielder benefiting from leaving his hometown.

Dunne added: 'Certainly for Everton they need a bit more freshness in their team and maybe Ross does, in terms of getting a new club, having to earn a place in a team and not have the comforts of being at home and living in his hometown.'

Should this happened former Everton defender Dunne feels Barkley will start to challenge himself and that could also win back his place in Gareth Southgate's England team.

Concluding, Dunne said: 'Maybe he needs to go out and challenge himself and start trying to progress and get a place back in the England team.'

There's a good amount of sense with what Dunne has said and perhaps he could be right that both Barkley and Everton would benefit from a change?

According to further reports in the Telegraph, Barkley's asking price has been set. Should that contract not be signed and Koeman follows through with his threat of selling him Barkley, 23, would command a £50m transfer fee.

Now, as much as Dunne might be onto something with what the Irishman said there is absolutely no chance Barkley will fetch that sort of fee, considering he's only got a little over 12 months on his current deal.
