Drogba Backs Lukaku Chelsea Return

Drogba Backs Lukaku Chelsea Return

Didier Drogba, who said he already knows what decision Romelu Lukaku has made, is backing the Everton striker to make a return to Chelsea, where he's got unfinished business.

There's no certainty Lukaku will be sold this summer but should he officially request a transfer the chances are the Belgian's wish will be granted - yes, as Leon Osman said this week, it'll be a blow but Everton WILL go on as no player is bigger than the club or irreplaceable.

Lukaku, three years on from his arrival from Chelsea, has been backed by Stamford Bridge legend Drogba to re-join London club and prove a point.

Drogba told Sky Sports: He knows the [club] already and I think he wants to prove he can be successful here. He didn't get the chance to do it [before].

Adding that he's continually 'challenging' Lukaku to be better, he could become the best if he returned to Chelsea:

'Chelsea is his club since he was young, so why not? He wants to be the best. He's really working hard to become the best. I am always challenging him. When he scores one goal, I expect him to score two.'

Drogba, himself now a co-owner and player at Untied Soccer League outfit Phoenix Rising, went on to talk about his relationship with Lukaku and how he's like a 'little brother' to him:

'We have a very good relationship. I think he's my little brother. He's a really good guy. He's a very good player, but also a great man.'

Pushed for an answer on what's going to happen to Lukaku, 23, the Ivorian wouldn't give anything away but Drogba did claim to know where he was going, suggesting Belgium international Lukaku is clear in his mind he'll leave Goodison Park.
