Barkley Suffers Training Injury
Everton midfielder Ross Barkley will miss the start of the Premier League season having picked up an injury in training a day before the campaign is due to start.
With Everton's efforts to get into the lucrative Champions League places starting tomorrow afternoon with a trip to Leicester City, the timing could not have been worse.
Initial reports suggest Barkley will miss 6-8 weeks of football, although with a scan yet to happen this is just educated guesswork.
The situation is worsened for manager Roberto Martinez with Steven Naismith, Barkley's natural replacement to play off the striker, likely needed to play up front tomorrow due to record signing Romelu Lukaku's late return to pre season following the World Cup. Lukaku, along with compatriot Kevin Mirallas, played no part in Everton's pre season games and is unlikely to start the trip to Leicester.
