Early Everton team news ahead of opener

Roberto Martinez has revealed some early team news ahead of the Premier League season opener with Championship winners Leicester City.

Everton trio Romelu Lukaku, Kevin Mirallas and Seamus Coleman all joined up with the squad for training on Tuesday.

Romelu Lukaku and Kevin Mirallas have had very little in the way of a pre-season campaign after they were given extra time off following the World Cup.

Neither player were involved in Sunday's final pre-season friendly at SC Paderborn.

While Seamus Coleman has been given the all-clear following a scan on his hamstring, after the Republic of Ireland international limped off against Tranmere Rovers in a friendly.

'All three are going to train normally with the team, so we need to assess how they are and how they go through the week before any decisions are made on Saturday,' Martinez told evertonfc.com.

He continued: 'It's really good to see Rom and Kevin reaching a really good level of fitness so quickly, but we don't know yet if they're going to be ready for the weekend.

'Seamus is training with the team and had the 'all okay' from a scan yesterday, so that's very good news as well.'

Speaking about the not-so forgotten man Arouna Kone, Martinez added: 'Arouna is training well and is still in his own programme but he has been working with the team as well, We're very positive about Arouna being able to play some sort of competitive football in the next four to five weeks.'
