Everton lose in Bangkok

Everton lost to Premier League new boys Leicester City at the Suphachalasai Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday.

Giving the new all black away kit its debut Roberto Martinez selected a strong squad giving virtually the entire first team squad around 45 minutes each.

Luke Garbutt and Aiden McGeady were guilty of missing Everton's best chances during the first half and Everton were made to pay when Leicester's Gary Taylor-Fletcher scored the only goal of the game during the opening minutes of the second half.

"It was a fantastic event here in Bangkok and fantastic to see so many Everton fans, I thought the Thai people were very welcoming and it was a good exercise.' Martinez told evertonfc.com.

He added: "It was a difficult game for both teams, to get that little bit of tempo. We tried the best we could with the humidity and overall you are looking at the amount of playing time that we had. Some of the players started to get 60 minutes and others completed 45.

"It was a difficult mental exercise. In many aspects, it`s a type of game where you have to get through much physical pain. It worked well to get some good volume and precision work and in that respect I am really happy."
