Mirallas to miss Everton run-in

Mirallas to miss Everton run-in

Kevin Mirallas has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after he hobbled off during Everton's win over Manchester United.

Mirallas limped off in injury time after he scored during the 2-0 victory which resulted in David Moyes sacking from Manchester United.

A scan has shown that the 26-year-old has suffered a small tear in his groin, which will see him miss the games against Southampton, Manchester City and Hull.

"Kevin's scans came back and they have revealed a small tear in his groin. He is going to be out for the season which is a real disappointment and a shame because he was in a phenomenal moment of form. Martinez told evertonfc.com.

Despite the bad news for Everton, there was a silver lining for Mirallas and Belgium ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Martinez continued: "It is not a major injury. It could be anything up to five or six weeks, and that`s looking at the worst-case scenario. Kevin is a quick healer and I would be surprised if he is not available after three or four weeks.

"It`s a shame because we had three really important games and Kevin has always been really influential this campaign. But the most important aspect now is that we get him fully fit and ready to participate with Belgium in the World Cup."

Meanwhile defender Sylvain Distin remains a doubt after he was withdrawn at half time against Man Utd with a hamstring injury.
