The Goodison factor
Roberto Martinez wants his side to embrace the Goodison Park atmosphere and use it during the final run in of the Premier League season.
Everton have five games remaining this season. With three games at home and two away.
The first of those three home games is this evening against Crystal Palace.
With Arsenal beating West Ham United last night, Everton go into the game in fifth place, but also know that victory, an eighth in succession would be enough to return to the crucial fourth spot in the chase for the Champions League.
"As a player at Everton you can feel your crowd and that makes you run an extra yard and run that yard quicker and you don`t get tired.
"But in the same way, that feeling can work against us if we take games for granted and are thinking we just need to turn up and we will win games. Martinez told The Post.
He continued: "You feel that chemistry between the home fans and home players it can be intimidating and you find it hard to express yourself as a footballer.
"So, it is a double-edged sword. We need to use our advantage well and have it as part of our make-up."
