Injury news ahead of Villa game

Injury news ahead of Villa game

Everton gaffer Roberto Martinez has given an injury update ahead of the weekends fixture with Aston Villa.

Of course the first news will be the absence of Romelu Lukaku, who injured his ankle in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on Tuesday night.

It was thought that he might miss the remainder of the season, but Everton received good news following the scan and he will not be out as long as first expected.

Other injury concerns surround Seamus Coleman and Sylvain Distin, who will also miss the game through injury.

But there was also news on a possible imminent return for Gerard Deulofeu, who has now returned from Spain where he was receiving treatment for his hamstring injury with parent club Barcelona.

"Seamus Coleman is a little too early for the weekend and Sylvain (Distin) is in a similar situation, Along with Gerard (Deulofeu), they should be available for the first game after Villa." Martinez said at his Thursday press conference to Everton TV.

He continued: 'Romelu (Lukaku) will be back well before the final seven or eight games of the season, which is very positive, We had very good news in that respect. The structure of the ankle is fine and he sustained no ligament damage. It is badly, badly bruised but it is not a matter of months as we expected.
