Distin grabs new deal

Distin grabs new deal

It's that time of the year again where Everton and defender Sylvain Distin announce a new contract.

The French defender has been signing one year extensions for a number of years now and without going through the archive, I do wonder if I merely copied and pasted an old article whether anyone would actually notice.

The deal of course will see the now 36-year-old remain at Goodison Park until the end of the 2014/15 season.

Since joining Everton in 2009 for a reported £5million from Portsmouth, Distin has gone on to represent Everton on 177 times.

"It was one of my targets to carry on playing, to keep fit and stay at Everton, so I`m really happy," Distin told evertontv.

He continued: "It was an easy agreement but I thought it would be any way. I never had any intention to leave and I`m happy where I am.

"I feel comfortable and the manager and chairman are happy with what I am doing, so there was no question of doubt in my mind that we would find a solution.
