Football is a fickle world, after eleven years of building Everton and over achieving for much of his time at Everton, who would take David Moyes back now?
He had his own style of play and proved himself to be one of the best managers in the Premier League through his achievements at Goodison Park.
Those achievements might not have come in form of silverware, but it was still enough to earn one of the top jobs in football, replacing Sir Alex Ferguson at Manchester United. Certainly big shoes to fill, but if Manchester United thought he was the man to do it then surely it would be just a big a job to fill the boots that Moyes left behind at Everton?
Well if it was then Roberto Martinez has slipped his size 9's firmly in place and could well be considering buying a new set of boots, because right now if you took a poll on who you would prefer as manager I'm sure despite 11 years of hard graft in comparison to the three months Roberto Martinez has put in the poll would not be very favourable to the Scot...(in fact let's do this, the voting panel is found to the right hand side of this article).
It might be a tough question for the fans, but how do the players feel?
'For me it is better (now), although I was very happy playing under David Moyes because he is a good manager, but Roberto is different because the Spanish style of playing football is different. Kevin Mirallas told The Independent.
He continued: 'The Spanish style of football is my type of football and with Roberto it is very different.
'It's better because under David Moyes I was not as free but now I am on the (touch) line more under Roberto - it's different but that's what Roberto wants me to do.
'I feel I am more consistent now. I play better and better. The first game I was not so good and felt tired but now my body is excellent and everything is okay.'
Obviously none of the current players are actually going to turn around and say they prefer their old gaffer, but you do get the feeling that they've all taken to the new style that Roberto Martinez has implemented and you have to wonder how Manchester United fans feel watching on.
Vital Everton is 100% interactive. Not only can you have your say on the articles and the forums but you can also write an article to be published on the website or a suggest a poll so you can air your views.
