How long will it take Evertonians to forget Marouane Fellaini following his move to Manchester United?
According to the Mirror, we already have following Gareth Barry's 'immense Everton debut'.
Don't let anyone tell you that football isn't fickle, on transfer deadline day Roberto Martinez's late move for Gareth Barry wasn't exactly met by excitement from the fan base.
We were more interested in the signings of James McCarthy from Wigan and the loan capture of Romelu Lukaku.
At 32-years-old he was seen by many as just a stop-gap signing before we bring in a more long-term target to replace Fellaini.
But just days after signing him on loan from Manchester City, Martinez was eyeing up a more permanent move with the England international out-of-contract at the end of the season.
Once again Everton fans quickly moved to say, 'lets see him in action before we get too carried away'.
Well we've seen him in action now and his goal blocking challenge at the feet of Samuel Eto'o will live long in the memory following victory over Chelsea.
As the British tabloid wrote, his debut was immense and if a player can win over the fans in one game, that's exactly what Gareth Barry did.
His role may usually go under the radar, but you get the impression he's one of those players who is more recognised by his peers than his fans.
Another suggestion backed up by comments from Leighton Baines after he returned from England duty.
"The City lads on the last international break said they can`t believe that they haven`t kept him and he doesn`t play for them, I think that says enough really of his worth to any team that he plays in. Everyone rates him who plays with him and he`s come in straight away and shown what a great asset he`s going to be for us. he told The Echo.
He continued: "We`ve seen straight away what he can give to the team and I`m sure Gaz will tell you he`s not played as much as he`d like or as much as we have - but he`s already produced a performance like that so if he can play to that standard most weeks, which will be difficult because it was a great performance, it`s going to add to the team definitely."
Everton skipper Phil Jagielka added: "It`s nice to bring people in who settle as quick as Gaz has, He`s a great lad and it was really nice to see him put the performance in that I knew he was capable of and obviously the fans have seen it now.
