Martinez lines up Baines replacement

Roberto Martinez has lined up his contingency plan in the event of losing Leighton Baines to Manchester United.

Everton have of course already rebuffed one move from David Moyes to take Baines with him to Old Trafford, but Everton have expected further approaches by United, although they now seem to be a little bit pre-occupied with Wayne Rooney and official bids from Chelsea for our former starlet.

So with one eye on potentially losing our left back, Roberto Martinez has lined up Granada left back Guilherme Siqueira.

Everton have according to the Daily Mail at least agreed a fee of around 4million for the 27-year-old, while personal terms have also been discussed with a verbal agreement close.

The problem for Everton comes with not knowing whether or not we will eventually fend of United for Baines or if we will need to make a move for Siqueira.

Turkish side Galatasaray are also interested in the left-back and if Everton drag a move out we could miss out on our number one replacement option for Baines.

Would be really surprised if Baines left. Everton are in total control of this situation, we have no pressure financially to sell, the player seems really happy with Everton and won't push for a move, thus, United have to pay what Everton want, and from what has happened thus far this summer, I find it hard to see United stumping up the cash (especially since Moyes really is tight with his money). Besides, from what I have heard, United are focusing on a big, big target right now, and would want to get that done as quick as possible.

A wagon load of Wilfred Hyde White as far as i'm concerned! we already have an excellent replacement in Oviedo and Baines is happy anyway to stay with the Blues!
