Everton seal Kone deal
Everton have announced their first summer signing, with Wigan striker Arouna Kone arriving for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of 5mil. The Ivorian striker has signed a 3 year deal, which will see him reunite with former Wigan manager Roberto Martinez.
The 29 year old was signed by Martinez for Wigan last summer from Spanish side Levante, and enjoyed a successful season for the Latics bagging 13 goals in 33 appearances, which included winning the FA Cup. Kone has been a journeyman of sorts having previously played for Holland and Spain.
Kone took to twitter to express his joy at signing for Everton saying
'Looking forward to be at Everton :) but I won't be playing N2 anymore'
Everton fans will be hoping that Arouna Kone can be the man to help their striker crisis, which last season saw midfielder Marouane Fellaini top the goalscoring charts for Everton with 11 goals.
