Arsenal priced out of Fellaini deal?
Have Arsenal been priced out of a move for Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini?
Reports suggest that the 25-year-old would be keen on a move to Arsenal which would of course see him reunited with Mikel Arteta. However the full cost of the transfer has seen Arsenal bosses take a step back from preparing a potential deal.
As well as matching Everton's £22million asking price, the Belgian International could be looking for wages in and around the £100,000-a-week mark. An increase from the £75k-a-week contract that he is on at Goodison Park.
Once you consider that he is likely to sign a deal in the region of five-years, that would bring the costs of his contract up to around £26million and that's before any signing on fees and bonuses.
Arsenal are notoriously tight with the purse strings, although some think the recent move for Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain could be an indication that Arsene Wenger will be given some cash to play with, but will it be enough to get Everton seriously concerned about the possibility of losing Felli?
For now it seems Zenit St Petersburg are the only club capable of matching the both Everton's and Fellaini's demands financially but will he want to make the move east?
While Manchester City appear to have lost interest following their latest managerial merry-go-round and Yaya Toure signing a contract extension.
