Martinez leads the way for Kone

Martinez leads the way for Kone

Following their relegation from the Premier League Wigan Athletic look set to lose striker Arouna Kone with Everton and Norwich linked with a summer move.

The Ivory Coast international reportedly has a £5million buy-out clause in his contract and with Wigan suffering relegation to the Championship the forward who struck 13 goals last season has no intention of hanging around the DW Stadium.

'You always have ambitions as a footballer, and I don`t intend to play in the English second division.

'Wigan have gone down, which is a real shame. It`s up to them to set out their stance about my situation. I aim to play for one of the best clubs in England, and I hope I will get the chance.
he told the Daily Mail.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton is believed to be very interested in strengthening his striking options, but if reports are accurate that Martinez is seriously interested then surely his connections with the player in the past should put Everton in the box seat to secure his signature?
