'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Season defining period for Everton

Everton are heading into a season defining period and David Moyes is confident that his squad will get a second wind.

It's fair to say that since the turn of the year we've hit a bit of a blip, just two wins in the Premier League, including back to back defeats to Manchester United and Norwich City have seen us slump from fourth in late December, to sixth, seven points behind fourth placed Chelsea.

Tottenham's win over West Ham United last night pushed them up into third, nine points clear of ourselves.

With eleven games of the season to go there is still plenty to play for, with games against Reading, Arsenal and Manchester City all coming up over the next month Moyes believes that the next few games will define our season.

'we will get a second wind I think soon and kick on again.

'I'd say, 'Look at our situation'. How many clubs don't have anything to play for at this stage of the season? We have, we are still in a really good position.
Moyes told Sky Sports.

He continued: 'We are sixth in the table, we have a replay in the FA Cup at home to get into the quarter-finals.'

First up of course is the FA Cup fifth-round replay with League One side Oldham Athletic with a FA Cup quarter-finals spot against Wigan ready for the victors.

He added: 'It is a big game for us, for the fans. I think we are in a period of big games, albeit not maybe the top teams, but there is a period of big games coming up.

'I think we are in a period of maybe what direction our season is going a little bit, so we have to look at that and see.'

To me, the league has gone, top 4 wise, I mean, it is only 7pts, but considering some of the fixtures we have, like Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea away, realistically, we are probably going to have to win at least 2 of those games to have a chance of top 4, and given the way we have played recently, something is drastically going to have to change. Priority should be the FA Cup, and no disrespect to Oldham or Wigan, we have been gifted an easy road to wembley should the players and Moyes want to take it.
