'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Distin will have to wait for landmark game

Sylvain Distin is on the brink of a rather special personal achievement.

It would have come at Old Trafford last weekend if it wasn't for a upset stomach which forced him to pull out of the match day squad during the warm up.

The 36-year-old Frenchman has made 399 appearances in the Premier League, representing Newcastle (28), Manchester City (178), Portsmouth (77) and of course Everton (116).

"I don`t count games to be fair so you could say to me 200, 300, 500 and I would just have said 'yes`. Distin told The Post.

But the 400 Premier League appearances is an impressive one, especially when you consider that he will be the first first foreign outfield player to reach the landmark.

He continued: "I just take games one after each other and enjoy my time, but they are the kind of records that you can only be pleased about.

"When you think about it, it`s something you have to be proud of because playing in the Premier League is not easy and staying there is even harder,"

With it being FA Cup weekend the defender will have to wait that little bit longer before he reaches the 400 mark, Everton face Oldham in the FA Cup this weekend.

For readers in the UK, the game is live on ITV at 6pm on Saturday.
