Hitzlsperger set to stay?

Everton may have a bit of a battle on our hands to keep hold of Thomas Hitzlsperger.

The 30-year-old who made the move to Goodison Park after a successful trial spell earlier this season has been out-of-contract for the past ten days.

The former German international has made seven appearances since joining the club in October and with Darron Gibson continuing to struggle with injuries he could provide decent cover for David Moyes during the second half of the season.

The Echo have reported that Everton are prepared to offer the German a deal until the end of the current season, however German Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt could also make a move for the German who has 52 caps to his name.

It is thought that Hitzlsperger would favour a chance to remain in the Premier League over returning to Germany, but it could come down to whether or not he believes he will get enough opportunities with us or if he would prefer more regular football elsewhere?
