Zenit St Petersburg chase Fellaini

Big spending Russian's Zenit St Petersburg have targeted a January transfer window move for Everton's Marouane Fellaini.

The club have already splashed the cash on the likes of Porto striker Hulk and Belgian Alex Witsel from Benfica. The duo cost Zenit who are bankrolled by Russian gas giants Gazprom, a cool 64million.

With that kind of financial muscle if they are serious about a move for Felli then they are a club who could back it up with a serious offer for the 25-year-old.

"The management team expect to strengthen the midfield during the winter transfer window.' A spokesperson for Zenit told The Echo.

They added: "The signings will be players of very high quality. For example, the Belgium international Marouane Fellaini is on the list - he has proved himself in his games for Everton."

The Echo have reported that Everton have denied receiving any contact from the Russian club.

could hurt couldn't it? Hope you guys can keep hold of him, at least for this season. He might look like sideshow bob, but he is very good!
The Fear
I cant see Fellaini leaving in January, in the summer, especially if we don't finish top 4, then most likely he will leave yes, but right now, Everton are well in the hunt for the top 4, and Fellaini has stated numerous times of his desire to play Champions League football, and his first preference is always to play CL footy with Everton. The club and the player would be silly to part ways in January when we have a pretty good shot of finishing top 4. As for Zenit, cant see Fellaini going to Russia, but could be good for us, they are known to splash the clash and he will be far far away from England which is an added bonus.

though I hope he breaks a toe nail and cant play this sunday, I hope he stays with you at least for the rest of the season. I actually believe he could do better than joining zenit, who remain a very ricj club, capable of paying huge fees and wages, but are they yet in a position to be seen as a top side?
