Everton to make move for Butland?

Everton could be set to make a move for one of England's most up-and-coming Goalkeepers, Birmingham's Jack Butland.

At 19-year-old it's difficult for an English Keeper to make a name for himself in English football.

They tend to be down the pecking order at most clubs, kicking their heels as second or third choice behind an established first choice and generally foreign shot-stopper.

But 6 ft 5 in Butland has broken through over the past 6 months. He's gone from lower league football with Cheltenham, to representing Great Britain in the Olympics to winning his first senior cap with England.

This season he has played in all of Birmingham's Championship games but the Daily Mail have suggested that the clubs financial position may force them to sell once the January transfer window opens.

Birmingham City are actively seeking new owners and with ourselves, Southampton and Manchester City monitoring his progress, the Championship club could see a quick sale as a short-term fix to their cash flow forecasts.

Cant see it happening to be honest. Our priority in January needs to be a central midfielder as we are very thin in that area of the pitch, hoping we go back for Odjidja-Ofoe. But if, by some chance, we have funds to buy the lad, would love to see him at Everton, the lad is only 19 and we wouldn't have to worry about that position for 15-20yrs if we sign him.

Although i have not seen this kid playing my son rates him highly so on that basis i'm in! Howard needs serious competition as he tends to make an increasing amount of errors these days.
