Following in the footsteps of Steven Pienaar, Jan Mucha has also decided to retire from international football with immediate affect.
The 29-year-old who has won 35 caps for Slovakia and played in the World Cup two years ago informed his international coaches Stanislav Griga and Michael Hipp of his decision and he was subsequently not selected for Slovakia's upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Greece.
Unlike the Pienaar announcement, there are no associated quotes on the official website, so we can only speculate on the reasons behind the decision.
Unlike with Pienaar, the travelling and recovery time is of course less of an issue in regards to travelling around Europe and also he's not a regular feature for Everton and of course goalkeepers careers are longer than outfield players, so it appears to be a strange decision.
