Everton 3 - 1 Southampton : Forum Views

Everton continued an impressive start to the new season with a comfortable win against newly promoted Southampton at Goodison Park. A goal from Osman and two from Jelavic during a quite phenomenal period of play by Everton going into half time was more than enough to win the game, with Southampton having no answer when Everton stepped up the gears.

Everton had fallen behind after yet another mistake from USA keeper Tim Howard, but our forum users were delighted with the way Everton came back to crush the opposition.

Rob-EFC: After that goal, and up until half time we were sensational, we just dominated the game literally played in their penalty area and got the 3 goals, and it is nice to see Jelavic on the scoresheet again and some good finishes as well.

EvertonMike: For about 20 minutes before half time we were excellent, as good as you'll see any team play. Don't know why we were playing hoofball until then, but once we got it down and played it we were far too good for that lot.

ToffeeBlue: Wow them 20-25 mins before half time were some of the best football i have seen in a long time, Southampton simply couldn't live with us. Mirallas was all over the pitch and his run and connection with Fellaini for the 2nd was a joy to watch. Took our foot off the gas in the 2nd as the game was won. Brilliant simply brilliant
