'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Focus shifts back to the Premier League

The Capital One Cup, might not be high on many peoples lists of priorities.

It certainly didn't appear to be that high on David Moyes's list as he rang the changes for the fixture against Leeds United.

Everton, who had looked so good during our previous games this season looked disjointed against Leeds and the Championship club made us pay, knocking us out of the Cup.

No real heartbreak, many will say, but this was one competition that Everton could have challenged for this season and tell the 5,000 who travelled that the game meant nothing.

Thankfully Johnny Heitinga has come out and expressed the view that it was also a chance missed. At least it shows that the effort was there, just simply a bad day at the office with a disjointed side.

Lets be honest, while blame can be pointed at Moyes for making so many changes to his side, he probably thought the team he fielded should have been good enough to get passed Leeds United and on form, he was probably right.

'We need to bounce back now not only for ourselves but especially for the fans.' Heitinga told the Post.

He continued: 'There were 5,000 Evertonians in the stadium at Leeds and the support was really good.

'We were the ones who lost the game, not them.

'It was the shortest way to get a prize, but now we are out of the competition we need to focus on the league.
