Moyes gets value for money out of Everton

At the moment David Moyes cannot hide his enthusiasm for this current Everton side.

We all know what Moyes is like usually, he's a feet firmly on the floor kind of guy, always improvement to be found, safety first kind of manager.

It was affective, but not always great on the eye, you had to be patient to be an Everton fan at times as we'd always seemingly be spending the whole league season playing catch-up as for some reason we'd only really get going in November if we were lucky.

But this year is different, everyone can feel it and even David Moyes has had to criticise himself for being a little bit too attacking and ambitious following the recent defeat to West Brom.

The referee and linesman might have prevented us from an immediate return to winning ways against Newcastle but normal service was resumed against Swansea.

Under Brian Laudrup, Swansea started off their second season in the Premier League in style with 5-0 and 3-0 wins over QPR and West Ham, but following the international break they suffered their first defeat to Aston Villa and we continued to pile on the misery.

Swansea have been praised for their passing style of play as they made their way into the Premier League, but we gave them a listen on Saturday and unlike Everton teams of the past, we took our chances and came out comfortable 3-0 winners with goals from Victor Anichebe, Kevin Mirallas and Marouane Fellaini.

A lot has been asked about just how good this Everton side is and Moyes believes it's good enough to qualify for Europe. But most importantly at this stage of the season, it's just a fun side to watch and enjoy.

'Pushing for a European place, I think, is a realistic thing for Everton. The Champions League would probably be seen as unrealistic with the quality of the Premier League.' Moyes told the media after the win over Swansea.

He continued: 'I'm not a great optimist. I'm one of these ones who doesn't work that way. But I said to the players afterwards, 'I'm enjoying watching you play'.

'There were times at this point last season when I wouldn't have paid to watch us a couple of times. I would definitely pay to come and watch us now.'

Really amazing the turnaround of this club in the last year, and all it took is 15 odd mil, hate to say it as Rodwell is an outstanding young man and homegrown, but selling him has kind of reinvigorated this club. This group of players are having fun really, you can see it on the pitch, they are enjoying playing football and it is rubbing off on the fans and the manager. The spirit in this club and the morale is so high at the moment, and compared to last season it is unbelievable. As for Moyes' comments, it is surprising to see him say this, generally he downplays expectations, hell, even last season he said the goal was the get 40pts first, but with the morale at the club, it has even gotten to him. And to be fair, they way we have been playing, why cant we challenge for a European place? Hell, the way we are playing, why couldn't we challenge for Champs League?

Moyes has obviously caught on now and is letting the players express themselves. On Saturday afternoon we showed a lot of people how good we are getting. The players look like they are really enjoying themselves, playing swift attacking football, highlighted by intelligent passing and movement which is a pleasure to watch. Who knows, maybe an investor out there is thinking just that!
