'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Distin can't wait to return to action

This international break has felt so long! You wait for the new season to arrive and just when it does we get hit with the World Cup qualifiers.

At least with Leighton Baines and Phil Jagielka's inclusion in the England side we've had something to keep our interest levels up as Evertonians, but there is nothing like returning to Goodison Park to watch the Blues.

To compound the lengthy wait, we still go another weekend without football, as we have to wait till Monday to host Newcastle!

Two back-to-back weekends without football??? It's just not on especially in September!

If the frustration amongst the fans is palpable, imagine what it's like for players, chomping at the bit to return to action after the defeat to West Brom.

The West Brom game brought us all down to earth with an almighty bump, but the players have to be set to right the wrongs against Newcastle.

"At half time against West Brom it was 0-0 and we wanted to win the game. Maybe we wanted to win too much, we were too impatient and in the end we paid for that mistake. Everton defender Sylvain Distin told the Echo.

He continued: "Straight after the West Brom game I felt like I wanted to play again. I wanted the Newcastle game to be the next day,"

"It really felt like a bad day at the office but at the same time maybe the break will have done everyone some good."
