I wanted to try and win the game says Moyes

In the aftermath of the game on Saturday David Moyes was looking at himself and questioning whether he had been a bit too adventurous against West Brom.

It's not a question that he will have asked himself on a regular basis, as a lot of the time Moyes can be criticised for being too negative, in fact in a way, his tactical changes were both talking points on Saturday.

The early injury to Gibson caused problems, he's so influential to the balance of the side, that we do not have a like-for-like ready made replacement.

With Fellaini on such top form in previous games, Moyes opted not to drop him into a deeper role to fill the void and instead brought on Tony Hibbert and used Phil Neville.

This was seen as a bit too defensive minded for some, whilst his later substitutions, which had Mirallas coming on for Naismith and Anichebe for Neville with hindseight Moyes himself was critical of.

"I thought for the first hour we had good control, But we didn`t do well enough in the final third today and that was the reason we didn`t win. Moyes told the Echo.

He continued: "I`ve got to say West Brom defended really well, they came off the play, allowed us the ball.

"I made a change to try and win the game because I felt we were not doing enough to try to score, and in opening up we conceded a goal from it.

"I probably should have stayed as we were and maybe come away with a 0-0, but I wanted to try and win the game.

Haha, that is crap, if he really wanted to go for the win then when Gibson came off injured he should've pushed Fellaini back and put on Mirallas, instead he pushed Neville into midfield and Hibbert at right mid.

Sometimes Moyes is so defensive in his approach to the game that he forgets about winning as he is too determined not to lose. In my opinion this is the 3rd best Everton side I've seen in my lifetime-- taking in mind the Catterick era and Kendalls great side of the 80s. This team is more than capable of excellence but we need Moyes to wake up and realise how good WE ARE. He needs to let the team get out there and express themselves, let them play football and not give them constant defensive commands. The game on saturday was ours for the taking. We need to really start attacking because the talent is there!! Fair play to West Brom they took advantage of Evertons weakness which at that point was to defend. The defence is good and Jagielka can have fantastic games but lets face it ... he's a hoofer and with Howard, well -- he flaps at every cross that comes into the box. Yeah sure he's a good shot-stopper but some of his positional sense and his antics causes alarm to more than one Evertonion!!!! We really need to play to our strengths which is one of the best attacking formations in the country. Can't wait for the game against Newcastle so we can give them more of what we gave them at the end of last season!! COYB!!!!!!!!!!!!
