Double signing for Everton on deadline day

Everton made late bids to sign two new players ahead of the English transfer window closing on Friday night.

Considering how this summer has gone, I half expected this transfer deadline day to drift passed without any movement.

We've done so well over the course of the summer that as an Evertonian it was asking a bit too much for the signings to keep on coming. But they did, with our fifth and sixth signings completed last night.

David Moyes completed the signing of Costa Rica international Bryan Oviedo from Copenhagen on Friday afternoon, with the 22-year-old signing a four-year deal after completing a medical.

Oviedo's versatility will aid Moyes as the Costa Rican can fill in at left back if Leighton Baines picks up a knock, or he can play down the left hand side of midfield.

"I am so very happy. This is a very good opportunity for me.' he told evertonTV after signing the deal.

He added: "The last two or three days have been very stressful and tiring but I am so happy now. I am feeling good and right now everything is positive.

"I know a lot about Everton. I watch Everton games and Premier League games on the TV and it is a very good league."

The other new face around Goodison Park will hopefully be Belgian international Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe.

The 23-year-old Club Bruges midfielder, who is an international team-mate of Marouane Fellaini and Kevin Mirallas agreed to a move just before the transfer window closed last night.

The story went up on the official website at 1.18am, so unsurprisingly Everton now face a wait to see if the deal will be approved.

Approval may take until next week, but if he does make the switch the move will be initially a season-long loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Haven't heard of either of these two lads, but I strangely feel confident that they will be good squad players. Moyes has a history of plucking bargains and fingers crossed these are 2 of them. But the main thing I am relieved about is that we lost no-one, we have a pretty decent squad now, really excited about the rest of the season now!! COYB!!!
