'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Mirallas arrives

Although it was a league 1 side, it was still a very good performance from Everton.

These kind of fixtures have been a thorn in Everton's side for a while, we have really struggled against sides that came to Goodison and sat back and defended, but this Everton seems different.

Even missing some of our most influential players like Jelavic, Fellaini and Pienaar this team still played some champagne football and carved League One Leyton Orient open seemingly at will.

With two goals from Kevin Mirallas and two more from Leon Osman and Victor Anichebe the job was done at half time and we had the chance to throw some kids on to get some experience.

Garbutt looks like a Baines version 2 in the making, but for me, it seems the new signings were the stand out performers, Naismith set up the first and from what I gathered was at the heart of everything, and as for Mirallas, well 2 goals and 2 assists in your home debut, not a bad start if you ask me!

So promising signs, especially from Mirallas and after the game Everton assistant manager Steve Round spoke about his performance.

'Kevin gave us a cameo of what he's about with his speed, his movement and his finishing. he told the BBC.

He added: 'He showed why he was one of the top goalscorers in Greece.

'That is why we have got him at the club. He tired quite badly in the second half but we expected that.'

Mirallas is a player I wanted Spurs to go straight in for when this transfer window opened. He seemed to slip under everyones radar, and I thought given his better qualities he would fit into AVB's preferred 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 perfectly. You've got a little gem here fellas, and I reckon this could be a big season for you lot. Hope to see your cracking start continue. Also of course, come on you beautiful Spurs!!!
