'If It's Football, It's Vital'

I snubbed Arsenal claims Mirallas

It's always nice to know that a player has joined the club for the right reasons and indications are that Kevin Mirallas has done just that.

The 24-year-old Belgian made the move to Goodison Park for a fee reportedly of around £5.3million on Sunday, signing a four-year-deal.

The former Olympiacos striker had quite publicly admitted that both Everton and Arsenal were interested in signing him. Almost flirting with both clubs before making a decision.

Now we thought that it was someone merely looking for the biggest pay packet, but as he actually signed for Everton. That's probably unlikely!

Moving to Arsenal would have been the easier decision, Champions League football and probably higher wages, but it would seem that actually joining a club where you have a bigger part to play amongst the squad was more important to Mirallas.

"Discussions were at quite an advanced stage with Arsenal, But it was always clear that it was going to be totally down to me to make the decision.

"From the word go I was really impressed by the extent to which the manager wanted me here.
Mirallas told evertonfc.com "He showed a lot of confidence. I was convinced that what was important for me at this stage of my career was to get plenty of time on the field."

Always nice to see someone want to play for Everton, especially after turning down a club like Arsenal. No doubt, more playing time and his good mate Fellaini were the two influential factors in his decision, and I am sure watching on Monday night he was very impressed with the club as a whole. Cant wait to see him against Villa, think he is a class player and is the type of player we have lacked for a considerable amount of time

Arsenal fan here. I dont think he would have got many games at Arsenal with both Podolsky and Giraud there. He is a decent player and he may well be important player for you guy's this year. And well done monday night, much appriciated and I hope you prove to be the prominant team in Liverpool for years to come :P though I suspect the red half will have something to say about that.

Looking forward to the game Sat Rob? I expect you to be on the Vital Villa Sat night, either moaning or gloating.

I am cautious about the game. On paper, we should give your lot a good smacking because having watched the Villa game, the difference in quality between the two sides is rather large, your team lacks quality going forward, and defensively, you are still vulnerable (although better than last season), add our performance against United, and not to mention the addition of Kevin Mirallas (who I am a big fan of), it points to an Everton win. However, Villa are our bogey side, no matter how well we play, or what we do, we just cant beat Villa. Fingers crossed this is the game where we break that hoodoo, because it would be a crying shame if we beat United only to lose to Aston Villa the next week
