Everton to splash the cash on Dempsey?

Could David Moyes be set to splash the Jack Rodwell cash on Fulham's Clint Dempsey?

We still have no idea how much we have actually received from Manchester City for one of our most promising young midfielders in many years, but we move on and the British media believe we may move on to Fulham's Clint Dempsey.

The 29-year-old American wants to leave Fulham and has been heavily linked with Liverpool over the past few weeks. They have reportedly laid out an offer of £5million plus Charlie Adam.

Obviously this wouldn't be a like for like replacement for Rodwell, more of a replacement for Tim Cahill who departed to New York Red Bulls earlier this summer.

Dempsey though reportedly has his heart set on a move to Liverpool, so we may move our attentions to Blackpool`s Matt Phillips or a loan move for Manchester City's Adam Johnson according to the Daily Mail.

One would have thought that if we were after Johnson we might have got that deal agreed during negotiations for Rodwell? But who knows?

Would love to see him at Everton, but pretty sure he wants European footy and to be fair, we need to look at younger alternatives as we need to lower the age of our playing group and he will be 30 at the end of season, which would leave us with Pienaar, Osman, Donovan and Dempsey all over 30, which, given our financial situation is not a good place to be in as we couldn't afford replacements.
