Everton agree deal to sell Rodwell

Jack Rodwell has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park for years, this summer, it had been quiet until it was announced that Man City have had a bid accepted.

Officially it's undisclosed, so the British media are playing the guessing game, a mean average having a flick around would suggest that the deal is worth upwards of £15million and could even be as high as £20million once add-ons have been handed over.

The 21-year-old midfielder who has been called up to Roy Hodgson's England squad, has flown over from Malaga today to complete a medical.

According to the strange world of twitter, he has been telling anyone who will listen on the plane back to England that the move was not of his making, how true that is we will obviously never know.

Rodwell has had his injury problems over the years, but passing a medical shouldn't be a problem, they signed Owen Hargreaves after all...

Plain and simple, this deal just makes sense. We are well stocked in the defensive mid area, and we are short in other positions, and we cant afford to have a lad who is worth 15-20mil on the bench or in the treatment room week in, week out, and as last season showed, we can live without Jack. Hopefully Moyes can find 2-3 real quality players (one of which HAS to be a right winger) and if Moyes gets these signings right, then I think we could be well in the mix of a European position come the end of the season. As for Jack, am sad to see him go, as he is an Evertonian, spent his whole life at Everton seemingly, but most of all, he just seems a terrific young lad, never caused any troubles, did what he was told, never complained, just a model pro, which is rare in a 21yr old. I truly wish Jack the best of luck in the rest of his career and beyond, and given the past few seasons, he could do with a bit of luck in his career.

It is a sad fact that now Shiekh Mansour and the Man City board have invested more money into Everton than our own ******** board, truly is ridiculous what the board has done to the club.

I disagree with we're well stocked in defensive midfield, we now have two and we play with two. Both are currently injured. It's about as far from well stocked as can be.

Jack Rodwell has been unlucky with injuries for a while now but i reckon that's behind him- he will now go on to reach his potential and become an England leader in midfield. Sorry to see him go but i'm also sorry we are ******* skint! Kenwright is a ball bag.

One thing i am pleased about WRT this transfer is the way it was conducted. No huge media speculation, no arguments between managers and no enmity between fans. Looks as though both Everton and City have learned from the Joleon Lescott transfer and put that particular silliness behind.
