'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hibbo wants a 30- yarder!

The most anticipated pre-season fixture of the summer so far kicks off tonight at Goodison Park against AEK Athens.

The game serves two purposes, the first being a tough home test for David Moyes's squad ahead of the new Premier League season and the second is to thank Tony Hibbert for his services to Everton.

At 31-year-old is a member of an ever decreasing group, he is one of only a handful of players who have stuck with one club throughout their career.

10 years and 300 games have passed without a career goal, could tonight be the night? The official website currently has advertising banners with the slogan 'When Hibbo Scores We Riot', probably not the best advertising campaign when facing Greek opposition, but I'm sure most will understand the sentiment!

So will he score? Will he take a penalty?

"I don`t know why everyone is saying I should take a penalty, Everyone has been asking me that! The manager hasn`t said anything, nobody has. Hibbo told the Post.

But while he admitted it would be an easy way to mark his testimonial with a goal, there will be no sentiment involved once the game kicks off: "It`s an easy way of scoring, isn`t it? If I`m going to do it, I want it to be a 30- yarder!

"Anyway, I would rather us win 1-0 than us get beaten 2-1 and I score the goal. I just want us to win.

"The manager has said it is a pre-season game and that means we have got to be competitive.

"Once the game starts, everything that has surrounded the game goes out of the window."
