Everton confirm Yobo talks

This is hopefully a positive development, Everton officially confirming that we are in talks with Turkish side Fenerbahçe regarding Joseph Yobo.

We've been speculating for over two years that we were holding talks with them over the permanent move of the 31-year-old Nigerian and while in previous years the summers have ended with a loan move, the fact that we have now confirmed negotiations are ongoing is hopefully a positive step and that a deal can this season be thrashed out.

This move appears to be far from simple. It's taken two years to get to this point with Yobo making 60 appearances for Fenerbahçe on loan.

Only recently it was thought the move had collapsed, with Yobo frustrated with the speed that the deal was being concluded.

A source close to the defender apparently told South African website SuperSport.com, that Yobo had lost patience: 'The deal is off due to issues bordering on lack of communication and commitment. So he will be looking at other possibilities because there are no shortage of interest in him,'

But news of deal being dead was proved to be greatly exaggerated with Joseph Yobo's agent John Shittu deny the reports and insisting that negotiations were ongoing.

'The rumours are untrue. We are only finalising details. It should be sorted out soon.' he told BBC sports journalist Oluwashina Okeleji last week.

The deal is still thought to be around €2.5 million and with Everton now confirming they are in advanced discussions hopefully a move can now finally be completed.
