'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Cahill could return on loan

As we are well aware, some players like to make the move over from America's MLS to the Premier League during the January transfer window.

The Major League Soccer season doesn't run between the months of November and March, which has enabled a number of players to make the temporary switch.

Landon Donovan has come over from the Los Angeles Galaxy to Everton on two separate occasions and hasn't ruled out doing so for a third season later this year.

Thierry Henry did the same, making the move over from the New York Red Bulls to Arsenal.

So what about his new team-mate Tim Cahill?

The Australian has hardly even settled in following his £1million move from Goodison Park, the media have already thrown that little scenario his way.

Understandably, he wants to come across well to his new club and showing too much enthusiasm towards leaving, even for a few months, would have been unwise, but he still didn't reject the idea out of hand.

'I'm totally focusing on the Red Bulls - getting fit, giving everything I can for the next three to four months. Cahill told Sky Sports.

He continued: 'If something can work and fit to the training regime, because I've committed my future to the Red Bulls, and going on loan might not be the right thing for the football club.

'But if it works out that I can find the right happy medium to get the fitness and keep training and to play in certain games, then maybe yes.

'But I really think in the next three of four months we'll be able to tell closer to the end of the season.'

It would be a fairytale return, perhaps he could even share a flight with Donovan?

Not a bad shout, would certainly give the players and fans a boost, much like Donovan has done on both of his loan spells.
