Everton fed up with Baines rumours

The speculation regarding Baines and Man Utd just doesn't seem to be going away.

The left back has been supposedly a target for Sir Alex Ferguson for around two months, the British media during those weeks have sometimes dedicated daily coverage to the transfer link, especially following England's return from Euro 2012.

Reports of bids of upwards of £16million have been speculated, while a number of reports from the Star and the Metro even linked David Moyes with a £5million bid for 26-year-old Juventus left-back Reto Zeigler to replace him, so sure that they thought that Baines was off to Old Trafford.

But despite the story going round and round and round the back pages, nothing circumstantial has ever been reported and it has now got to the stage that apparently Everton are pretty annoyed with the speculation.

'We have not even had a single enquiry from Manchester United. Every week we are asked the same question, but it is the same answer, and we are getting a touch fed up with it. For two months it has been suggested that Manchester United have bid for Baines, but it is simply not true.' A Goodison Park source told ESPN.

It is true that Manchester United are in the market for a new left back.

Patrice Evra will not continue as first choice forever and Fabio has been sent out on loan to QPR, but it would seem unlikely that they would match the £15million asking price that we have slapped on the the 27-year-old.
