Yobo's Fenerbahçe deal collapses

It has been reported that Joseph Yobo's permanent move from Everton to Turkish side Fenerbahçe has collapsed.

Previous reports had quoted the 31-year-old Nigerian as being frustrated with the speed that the deal was being concluded, but more recent reports had suggested that after two years negotiations were actually now beginning to settle on a fee.

The Echo believed earlier this week that a breakthrough might have finally been achieved with Everton receiving £2.5million, a fee considerably higher than previous reports that Fenerbahçe were willing to pay.

But it would now seem, according to South African website SuperSport.com, that Yobo has lost patience regarding the negotiations.

A source close to the defender told them: 'The deal is off due to issues bordering on lack of communication and commitment. So he will be looking at other possibilities because there are no shortage of interest in him,'

Everton will be keen to tie up a deal for him as quickly as possible as selling him is key to being able to land Steven Pienaar from Tottenham on a permanent basis.
