Naismith makes Everton debut

Ever since May when talks seriously began regarding re-uniting Steven Naismith and Nikica Jelavić at Goodison Park, Evertonians have been excited.

Jelavić had an instant impact following his move to Goodison from the Scottish Premier League and when he started talking so complimentary about Naismith, we all took notice.

The 25-year-old striker had a record of 63 goals in 140 appearances for Rangers since he made the move from Kilmarnock in 2007.

Jelavić described him as the best strike partner he has ever had and when the opportunity came to link the pair up once more, Moyes took it.

Three weeks may have passed, with Naismith still recovering from a knee injury and of course the small issue of legal wranglings from Rangers in regard to the transfer, preventing international clearance being given [FIFA have given provisional clearance], but against Motherwell, for 20 minutes at least, we finally saw the pair together again.

"We did well at Rangers together and although it's pre-season, it's good to get into the old habits that we were in, He's a quality player and he definitely improved me as a player. Hopefully I can do the same for him." Naismith told evertonTV.

Naismith also spoke highly of his other team-mates adding: "The boys have made me very welcome. They are different class. Moving to a new club, there's always a bit of nerves to see how you'll settle in.

"But every one of them has made we feel very welcome."
